some time left before going out

hola chicas y chicos

im having some time left before going out. its incredible but it only took me sort of half an hour to get ready. shower included. so i found some time to tell the latest news.

yesterday i finally was able to satisfy my coffee addiction. namely coffe usually sucks here. i know i am spoilt. but the literally add sugar without asking. and its very watery. so but yesterday i borrowed bajrons travel guide and so found that cafe called marks which is situated at a very nice quiet street in palermo viejo.

i really enjoyed. a proper latte macchiato just for me. and no sugar. and good music....

later i went out to a club called asia de cuba just on the other side of the centre, it took me sort of quarter an hour to get there by taxi (just to show u how huge this city is). the club is at puerto madero, the harbour part of buenos aries. beautiful area.

i spemt a very pleasant night with mandy, the dutch girl of my class. but i felt like a giant. the club was huge, compared to swiss clubs and still it was so hard to discover other persons that were taller than me. and i am so not tall in reality.
(i found some later, after all...)

unfortunately this afternoon when we had classes, mandy was having the worst hang over i ever saw. her teint had some kind of a white greenish color. i really dont undertand why she ordered 3 more drinks inside the club... cause drinks here are much stronger and u really need to be very carefull.

the pic must be sort of street art. i really liked it when i discovered it. unfortunately i cant turn it around...

so, we are leaving now and i wish u a good morning!

bye bye

la feria de los mataderos

Today the weather was as beautiful and hot as it never has been any day before. I even could wear my skirt.

I added this picture to show you how amazing parks there are in Buenos Aires. Whenever I go for a run a go there, its sort of a 10 min run to get there. The quiescence at the parks is definitaly doing me good.

Busy life at Buenos Aires is something I absolutely still need to get used to, country bumpkin I am. This city never sleeps, there are cars and buses passing by 24 hours a day. Passing by while sleeping, while walking to the subte, while walking to school, just for example. The street can be just to scrape through, still there are cars passing by all the time. And actually, the cars are a lot louder than they are in western Europe because of being older.

But I brought ear plugs and till now I found some well hidden places where you may escape from the constant noise, for example at the Parks or surprisingly as well at the Cementary of Recoleta. And at home I can get some rest as well, of course.

Yesterday I went to a Market, la feria de los matadores. Although it still was located in the City, it took us about a 1 hour bus drive to get there. The good thing about this fact was, that there where almost no tourists, not including us.

People were dancing on the street and there where 2 huge grills where you could have Chorizo or Bife the Chorizo or black pudding as well (uhhh...). It was really enjoyable!

Good night, tomorrow I am going to bake bread... good bread!

Hey hey

Im not feeling really good. My sore throat got worse and I feel sort of dizzy..
But because I still didnt want so stay in the whole day, I decided to visit the zoo which is very close by my flat. It was a real pleasure apart from my general constitution.

There were many animals they dont have in Basle like white tigers, leopards and panthers and theyre having a quite good life Id say. Huge green enclosures with clean water, I only felt sort of sorry for the polar bear. Must have very hot in summer, I guess.

But most entertaining I found the monkeys of course, I love them. And the sort of animal on the picture I dont really know, they were so sweet!

On the way back I went into one of the numberous pharmacies to get something against my sore throat. The lady gave me quite tough stuff, I guess. After like 30 sec of leaking the sweetie half of my pain was gone already... not quite what Im used to when leaking sore throat sweets.

Tonight Im not going out, though Id acutally love to a great Jazz club. But its only reasonable not to go... =(

Enjoy Saturday night instead!

hang over

Today is sort of hang over day.
More news by tomorrow.

Bife de Chorizo

Bife de Chorizo tastes great.
Bife de Chorizo is huge.
Bife de Chorizo is grilled.
Bife de Chorizo is boneless.
Bife de Chorizo is the best meat I ever tasted.

(Though it beat me, it beat all of us, was just far too much.)

As u probably guess, I went out to eat typical Argentinian meat yesterday night which was absolutely delicious.
I was lucky, I ordered mine medium and it actually was medium. Phil just ordered the same, but his slice was a bit thicker than mine and so rare... buuuhhh...

Today it was raining for the first time.
I mean not raining, but raaaining. As if it was pourring rain. Great! So when I went out of the house and there was absolutely no chance to get anywhere, I just had another ciggie and afer 5 min the rain already almost was gone again. (For an instant...)So then, I didnt have any trouble anymore to get to the subway.

Right now I am at home and a bit curious where all the others are. Usually we all come back round 8 and have dinner between 9:30 and 10... so maybe I am just going to heat up some Empanadas from yesterday. U shoud definitely taste them... mmmhhh!

And now, Im gonna have something for dinner, cause theres nobody coming anymore (maybe I should have dared to answer the phone that rang for bout 5 times before) and afterwards, we are going to a club called Lost, Im so looking forward for it! Telly tomorrow how it has been.

Hasta luego chicos! chichi...

Uh... and I forgot, Ive been running in the rain today. It was perfect... there are so many parks in BsAs. I definitely wanna go again by tomorrow. (And theres no better thing to do after being out.)

I played pool

Yesterday night we were having great fun. I played pool, or rather: I tried my best to play it. My partner put in 8 balls and I just one singel one. Still we won, or he won... =)
And I swinged, since yesterday morning I felt like using a swing and luckily just in front of the bar at Plaza Serrana there was a playground. It was compleately satisfying.
And I had worst drink ever as well. I ordered a Cosmopolitan and got a wine glass full with some sirup and, Id say, 4/5 pure Wodka. Horrid! Jonas, u remember how these shots tasted we had once out of the Lady Shot Glases? Mine yesterday was worse and just a huge glass of...

dios dos en la escuela, hehe! (o 'jaja' en espanol)

Did u know, ppl in Argentina while laughing dont sound like hehe but like jaja (say chacha, like chue in swiss german), i wonder how the frogs sound like in spanish!

Today was a easy going day. Got up at 9, finished my homework (tarea se llame en espanol latinamericano), walked around the city for some hours, passed by the Buenos Airesian (?) 'Cental Park', huge again, crossed some 120 m wide streets, saw so many trees (BsAs must be the city with the most trees...) and almost as many dogs surounding some dogsitters.
(By the way, today I didnt even get lost while my little trip.)

Then, after i reached Avendina Santa Fe again, the enormous street i told u about, I had lunch and some rest and went straight on to Cementario Recoleta, a very famous cementary at the rich aerea of BsAs just around the corner by my school. Should have seen this graves, u couldnt imagine what rich ppl are able to after being dead already!

School was fine, though we didnt get very far today... and as well, I am now seriously thinking bout going on a trip to Tierra del Fuego, dont know how this is called in English, but its the very southern part of south america. And it is one of the places I always wanted to go to. Tomorrow Im gonna check my credit and ask for the prices at some Travel Agencies.

Good bye and good luck.

I am enthusiastic

Dear Girls
I am living with a real hot top Model and anyway, whenever u wanna meet loads of handsome men, come to BsAs. It is amazing.
(I mean they are not that latino kind but just so handsome, I needa take even more care while crossing the street! Sarina, ud feel like totally in paradise.)

However Ive had a great first day, though I was terribly late for my first class because I just went the wrong way twice, funny me.
Huge, city this is.

My class is just awesome, Phil from Newcastle, Scott from NY, Ina from Freiburg and uh... a girl from Holland, not counting myself. As well I didnt even have to join the very very beginners but the very beginners only, so I saved one week which is great of course. Just because I still knew a few irregular verbs like estar, ser, tener y hacer, happy me.

My real Hostmum only arrived this morning and is very friendly and entertaining as well, a great Argentine Lady! At 9:30 we are going to have Dinner (needa get used to that) and afterwards 2 students (including one with a very ugly beard, let just say its scraggly and rather disgusting) and I are going to some kind of club/lounge/cafe, dont remember the name. Luckily I only got classes at 2 tomorrow! =)
So many great impressions Id like to share with u in detail, its a big shame u cannot all see this! Im gonna take loads of pics to show u!

Cheers!

the City that smells like Persian rice

Hola chicos!
First I wanna thank u all who wrote something in my book, it was delightful to read it! And thanks to those as well who wrote me these encouraging text messages! I have been very pleased!
Far too much to tell already. Well, actually eveything went alright.
Didnt miss the train, didnt miss the flight to Barcelona but I learned: always to bring either Euros or something to eat with me next time there is the chance that I'm going to be hungry and on a short distance flight. Luckily I could pay with Swiss Francs of which I am rid now of course.
Then I had very long time of waiting in Barcelona, 7h about. And no Euros but Dollars in too big credits. So my hunger increased constantly... later at a bar where I wanted to try whether my card is maybe accepted as a credit card it finally worked, though I didnt have to use my Pin. I found it very strange but didnt care too mucht because I finally had something to eat.
Now there comes the not so nice part of mz journey which made it become 35h. When i arrived in Madrid a 11 p.m. the flight to BsAs was canceled, so we have all been brought to a hotel to sleep for maybe 4 hours till an other plane would be there to bring ut to our destination.
It was quite quite hard going because nobody told anything and if so, then in spanish. So before I went to bed I asked when the bus is going to drive us back and she told me... uuuuhm, well... 5:45. Nobody know anything and I followed the herd as a dumb sheep. Anyway, in the end it worked out and at 7:30 next morning I was finallz at my place next to the window!
I never would have imagined to sleep as deeply and refreshing in a plane (Tourist Class), as I did today. Amazing, just as a baby I guess. Sleeping, eating, reading, listening to the classic chanal (my Poddie battery was flat of course), talking to my neighbour and the 12h went over just like nothing.
Now I am at my hostmum. First impression is, that I am verz lucky. I got my own room with a tiny balcony and in the living room thers that pc I am writing of and everything seems to be clean. The flat is nice in general and seems to be quite in the centre.
So far so good, I,m going to have some rest now, have another nose full of that strange taste of Persian rice and maybe have a look around my street later.
Be good and cheers!

13 April 2006

farewell dear fellows

Today I packed my suitcase. Imagine, actually everything fit, so no worries anymore. Except for my heart started to grow almost as heavy as the suitcase itself while packing. Probably quite normal I said to myself and after I had finished as far as possible, I went to Basle for some positive entertainment. Went with a friend to shop a bag for him. Though we got very wet, my feet even still are.
Back home my heart was much lighter and I felt like going out one last time, so, my dear fellows: Paaadey ist angesagt!
Cheers!

Switzerland live

Dear Friends and Family

6 days left till I leave Switzerland and it is raining terribly. Saturday I'm gonna catch the train to Frankfurt and take the plane first to Barcelona, then Barcelona - Madrid and finally, after this unnessecary intermediate stop, I'll be flying over the Atlantic straight to Buenos Aires, future New York as it is called as well. I am very curious.
Last Saturday I gotta know a girl who's from BA by origin and she gave me the address of her family, great hu? So hopefully her mum or a friend of hers is gonna show me the little secrets of the city.
I am going to stay at a ex-nun by the way, mustn't have liked her job too much cause now she's got a 25 year old daughter!
Well, now I only still need to finish my almost unfinishable shelf (as soon as the snow is going to allow it) and maybe buy some more gifts ( Schoggi, Jasskarte, Alpekaländer...). All injections are finally done after all.

Cheers!
